Organisation

Along with each of my lists to help me throughout my project, I've also scheduled out each day so I can stay on track with tasks and get everything completed on time. Many people tend to have their plans on their computer but I find it much easier to have it printed out and visible at all times. Having it on my wall, I can always refer back to it with ease whenever I need. There may be some areas in my planning that I've allocated a lot longer than I may need, however if this is the case then I will start on the next task sooner. It gives myself some leeway, just incase there are certain areas that take longer than I have originally anticipated. After writing out my plan, I realised that I should model the character first, before the environment. It makes more sense this way and by doing that, I can accordingly scale everything to the character's size. It's the end of January now, so there isn't much time left, I have about 3 months to complete everything (minus the rendering). It seems daunting the amount of work I need to get done but if I stick to my plan, it should all be okay in the end.

Organising Time

Organisation was a big part of this project, not only was there a lot of accomplish as a whole but for myself, I was going to be taking a week off to attend Animex at Teesside University. I had to plan out what I was going to be doing and how long it would take me, this kept me on track and made sure I had enough time to complete everything to a high enough standard. It's always useful to plan out your time accordingly as it gives you a time scale to work from and you have to be realistic with the tasks you set yourself. I stuck to my schedule pretty well, though there were some parts where I didn't do till later and started some earlier, but in the end everything was done on time, and my main goal really was to have the animation at least 80% completed before I went off to Animex. After that I would only really have about a week left and that was mainly for finishing pieces off before the final crit. I wanted to have a near completed film to show at the final crit to get as much feedback as possible and it would also leave the last week for tying up loose ends and altering small aspects.

Gantt Chart

As we are working in a group of three and each of us has separate tasks to produce it would be beneficial to write out our individual goals and the time frame we are allocating ourselves to achieve it in. By doing this it gives everyone a deadline to work to and makes sure that nothing goes off task and the final product is completed on time.

Below is our group gantt chart which indicates all of our tasks and deadlines. Some bars are colour coded to relate to different people and their tasks. I've worked on this with Lija and Phil to get a rough idea of what people can achieve in the time. This is still a rough guide, some tasks make take longer or even shorter to complete but it gives us something to work to.
